Raja Ampat, or "The Four Kings," is an archipelago located off the northwestern tip of Bird's Head Peninsula in Papua, Indonesia. It is widely considered one of the most beautiful marine national parks in the world. The archipelago consists of four main islands: Waigeo, Misool, Salawati, and Batanta, along with thousands of smaller islands. The landscape is dominated by steep, green limestone karst islands that rise dramatically from the crystal-clear, turquoise ocean.
Raja Ampat is famous for its unmatched marine biodiversity. It is home to over 75% of the world's coral species and more than 1,000 species of reef fish. Underwater, divers can explore vibrant coral reefs, underwater caves, and rare marine life such as manta rays and walking sharks. The warm water and high visibility make it a paradise for scuba diving and snorkeling.
Beyond the water, the islands offer dense tropical rainforests where rare birds, including the Birds-of-Paradise, live. Raja Ampat is not just a natural wonder, but also a crucial ecosystem that requires careful conservation.
